The GreenCityLabHuế – Strengthening Climate Resilience of Urban Regions in Central Vietnam through Nature-based Solutions (NbS) project has been selected by the Falling Walls Foundation (Germany) as one of the Top 30 shortlisted initiatives for Falling Walls Engage 2026, an international programme recognising outstanding initiatives in Science Engagement that strengthen connections between science and society.
GreenCityLabHuế is part of the SURE Funding Programme, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). The project is implemented through close collaboration between Vietnamese and German partners to promote Nature-based Solutions (NbS) through a co-creation process involving local authorities, schools and communities in Huế City.
Being selected for the Top 30 recognises the collective efforts of the project partnership in bringing science closer to society and promoting community-driven approaches to climate change adaptation.
In the coming months, the shortlisted projects will participate in a training programme and further develop their pitches before the Falling Walls Foundation selects the Top 15 finalists to present at the Falling Walls Science Summit 2026 in Berlin, Germany.
The GreenCityLabHuế Project Management Team would like to express its sincere gratitude to the Falling Walls Foundation, BMFTR, the SURE Funding Programme, our project partners, colleagues, local authorities, schools and, above all, the communities in Huế for their continuous support throughout this journey of connecting science and society for greener and more sustainable cities.
