The GreenCityLabHuế project is proud to introduce its strategic publication “Green City Vision Hue – Promoting nature-based solutions for urban planning, The case of Hue City, Central Vietnam.” Developed through collaboration between scientific partners in Vietnam and Germany, and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), this publication is the result of a co-creative process with stakeholders in Hue. It outlines a roadmap for building a greener, climate-resilient city that preserves both the cultural and natural heritage of Hue. Key contents of the publication:
- Conceptual framework: Introducing nature-based solutions (NbS) and green-blue infrastructure (GBI), highlighting their benefits in reducing urban heat islands, improving air quality, and conserving biodiversity.
- Practical applications: Showcasing exemplary NbS models in Hue such as rooftop gardens, vertical greenery, riverside parks, and community green spaces.
- Policy recommendations: Proposing strategies to integrate NbS into urban planning, regulations, and financial mechanisms.
- Implementation guidelines: Providing step-by-step approaches for NbS implementation, from mobilizing resources and community consultation to applying technology and data.
- Community engagement: Emphasizing the role of citizens, businesses, and authorities in co-designing, managing, and maintaining urban green spaces in the long term.
With its holistic and co-creative approach, the Green City Vision Hue not only provides strategic orientation for Hue but also serves as a valuable reference for other cities in Vietnam and Southeast Asia in applying NbS for green urban development and climate change adaptation.
