The nature-based solutions (NbS) model at Phu Hoi Community Cultural Center has been thriving. Bougainvillea climbing high on trellises, lush green vines, rooftop planters, and hanging pots together create a refreshing green space that enhances the landscape and helps regulate the microclimate in the dense urban area.

The key to ensuring the effectiveness of this model lies in regular maintenance. Activities such as daily watering, pruning, adding new plants, fixing climbing vines, and cleaning the space are carried out consistently. In particular, the automatic irrigation system installed on-site has played a vital role in maintaining the stable growth of the plants. The combination of manual care and modern irrigation technology not only reduces the workload for caretakers but also ensures that water is supplied adequately and on time. Thanks to this, the green space continues to grow evenly, stay clean, and remain sustainable.

At present, the GreenCityLabHuế project is still directly involved in caring for and monitoring the model in cooperation with the local community. In the future, once the green space becomes more stable, the project will hand it over to the local community for continued maintenance and use. This process will not only secure the model’s long-term sustainability but also strengthen the community’s role in managing and preserving their green space.

In the context of growing urban challenges and a shortage of greenery, the Phu Hoi model demonstrates the advantages of NbS: making use of small areas to create green spaces, improving the environment, and enhancing residents’ quality of life. The close cooperation between the project, supportive technology, and the community is the foundation for this green space to continue thriving sustainably in the years to come.
